Abstract:
GeoNetwork is a central portal component in any SDI. It facilitates datasets to be discoverable in your organisation, state or country. Multiple instances of GeoNetwork can be connected to form a network, so all data in the network is discoverable by anyone. Datasets can be registered in the portal manually or automatically extracted from any file system or WMS/WFS/CSW endpoint. GeoNetwork also provides interfaces to search engines (schema.org) and semantic web (DCAT).
In this workshop we’ll introduce you to the different aspect of GeoNetwork. We’ll guide you in implementing your own dedicated portal with GeoNetwork. We will focus on the basic configuration and deployment of this catalog. At the end of the workshop, attendants will be able to have their own metadata catalog deployed, configured with their favourite metadata profile and have some metadata imported.
Also we would like to discuss with you possible improvements on the project and potential new use cases. The workshop is organised by a combination of key contributors to the project. Camp to camp, GeoCat and Titellus.
